Invitation for 2012 International Media Conference at Yonsei University

(June 22-24, 2012)

 Dear Yonsei colleagues and students,

On behalf of the Institute of East and West Studies, Yonsei University and the East-West Center (EWC) in Hawaii, it is my pleasure to invite you to attend the 2012 International Media Conference (IMC) held in the College of Business and Economics building from June 22 to June 24, 2012. The conference theme is “Networked News: How New Media is Shaping Stories in Asia and the Pacific.”

The IMC will look at news and journalism issues in Asia, the Pacific and United States through the prism of new media. Approximately 300 journalism professionals from over 20 countries are expected to come to our campus to attend this conference. 

As a co-host, Yonsei University students, staff and faculty members have the benefit of registering for the conference free of charge by completing the attached form and sending it to Mr. Eugene Alexander in the EWC at alexande@eastwestcenter.org  by June 13, 2012. Please be advised that this complimentary registration does not include meals, tours and reception at the Seoul Foreign Correspondents Club.  

I hope you can take advantage of this this opportunity to learn the latest from top experts on how new media is impacting news and reporting in the region. You will also have the opportunity to meet with distinguished journalists and authors, US political strategists, and many experts sharing the latest trends in digital media.

Please note that the total number of participants will be limited, and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will close on June 13, 2012 if the conference is full. if you are interested in attending, please register as soon as possible.

If you want to attend lunches on June 22 and June 23, and dinner on June 22, you can register for this conference at a reduced fee of US$150 by contacting Mr. Alexander at the above e-mail address. The following are not included with the reduced fee:  opening reception at the Seoul Foreign Correspondents Club and tours of the Samsung Showroom and Demilitarization Zone (DMZ and lunch).
